Any sets or part sets outstanding 14 days after the due date will be charged a daily overdue fee of 50p per title, in the 14 days following this. Until notified, lost or missing copies will be identified as outstanding loans. Any lost or missing parts should be replaced by the group with an identical edition in good condition. Please note that some collections have had extensive additional cataloguing undertaken through externally funded projects, and that in these cases the original typescript lists have now been very considerably enhanced. In all cases it is advisable to consult the upgraded versions in the Manuscripts Online Catalogue . The following is a list of special collections which include material relating to health and hospitals, with the codes that can be used in an advanced search for 'collection' in NUsearch. In each case, there is a link to the catalogue entry on Manuscripts and Special Collections' online catalogue, which gives more details about the scope of the collection, and guidance on how to browse and search for items in the particular collection: Fines will apply for unreturned items (whole sets or parts of sets) at 50p per title per day (not per copy), the charges start 14 days after the end of loan date.

About our collections
Typescript catalogues of manuscript and archivecollections are available in the Reading Room at King's Meadow Campus for most of the principal collections. The award winning Nottingham Performing Arts Library Service (NPALS) lends multiple copies of plays, vocal scores and orchestral sets to organisations across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derby City as well as directly to groups around the UK. The collection comprises over 24,000 drama copies, 85,000 Vocal scores and 1,300 orchestral sets. Titles in a variety of languages including Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, German, French, and more If ILL requests are cancelled after the set has been secured from other Library Authorities, NPALS reserves the right to charge the group the full cost for the set for a 1-month loan. The following health-related catalogues are available at item level on the Manuscripts Online Catalogue: Some manuscript collections have been catalogued in detail, giving descriptions of each individual item or bundle. These descriptions are available as part of the Manuscripts Online Catalogue . Not every collection has been catalogued to item level. You can join when you visit one of our libraries or join online and use the same membership to borrow eBooks, eAudio, eMagazines, eNewspapers and use eReference books NPALS reserves the right to make changes to these terms and conditions from time to time as it sees fit.If you find you are retrieving a number of false hits, you can narrow your search down by using the other search options. For instance, type your required search term into the 'AnyText' box, and also type 'Uhc' into the 'Document Reference' box. Type your required search term into 'AnyText', and also type the exact year, or a range of years, into the 'Date' field. You can even combine this with a 'Document Reference' search to target the search still further. By selecting the drop-down arrow next to 'Advanced and index searches', you will be able to use the 'People Search' search form and access individual name authority terms - for example, the name authority for Florence Nightingale (enter 'Nightingale' in the surname field and 'Florence' in the forename field). From this, you will be able to link directly to a description of every document from, to or about Miss Nightingale. This also works for corporate names (names of businesses or organisations) such as 'Nottingham General Hospital'.A list of possible relevant subject terms is provided here for guidance purposes. The terms specified are simply a selection, and relate predominantly to general health matters. If a term does not appear in the list, this does not mean that it will not appear in the online catalogue. NPALS has a small budget to buy new titles and replace copies; we actively encourage suggestions so that we can meet the needs of our users. We cannot promise we will fulfil every request, but we consider each one carefully. Will there be a member of staff to answer enquiries? Most of the books and other printed materialclassified as Special Collections are catalogued in detailon the University of Nottingham's Library catalogue, NUsearch. General descriptions of the scope of each Special Collection are also given on the Manuscripts Online Catalogue .
ILL requests cancelled by the group after the loan has been agreed will be charged a 1-month loan fee, ILL requests cancelled by the group after the set has been received at NPALS, from the lending library, will be charged the full hire fee. NPALS is primarily available to groups based in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland and Derby City. Personal information for registered groups will only be used to inform groups about their accounts and only for the purpose of enabling NPALS to provide and develop its service to borrowers. Personal information will never be shared with third parties.
